WHAT TO KNOW

About the location: It is believed that Somnath Temple Gujarat is located at the confluence of rivers Kapila, Hiran, & Saraswati, the temple is built. The history of the ancient temple can be traced back to 649 BC. It can be tracked back. Its current form was rebuilt in 1951.

Colorful dioramas depict Shiva, but they are barely visible through the frosted glass. An hour-long sound and light show performed by Amitabh Bachchan’s baritone illuminates the temple every night at 7:45 pm. Brief history: Somraj (moon god)  golden temple at Somnath.

Mahmud Ghazni captured the city 2 days battle 70,000 garrison soldiers were said to have died. Mahmud destroyed the temple after robbing it of vast wealth. This temple was destroyed in 1297 and 1394 and finally, it was destroyed 6 by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. The temple was then rebuilt in  1950.
